The Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) hasn’t been reviewed since it’s introduction in 1958, and Natural England are seeking your views about expanding it in a public consultation.
The current Surrey Hills AONB can be seen in green on the map above, with the proposed expansion shown in hashed green. You can see more detailed maps on the consultation website. The main areas in East Surrey being proposed for extension are Woldingham, Limpsfield, Godstone Hills, Caterham and Happy Valley.
Across the county, Natural England are proposing to increase the size of the AONB by a substantial 25%, an additional 62 square miles. You can view and comment on the proposals until 13th June, and you can view a copy of the plans in person at the Council Offices in Oxted.
