Following changes to Southern and Thameslink timetables, I’ve received a lot of emails from local residents who are understandably concerned about further reduced services in East Surrey.
I know the lack of services to and from Victoria has been a particular issue, on top of existing issues about direct services to London from East Grinstead, and having to change at East Croydon.
I am also concerned about the number of services that are currently overcrowded, and the reduced number of early morning commuter services.
I am continuing to raise this with Govia Thameslink and have asked that there are no further reductions to services and that services which have already been cut be reinstated as soon as possible.
The issue continues to be high levels of staff absence amongst qualified train crew, and the knock-on effect this has had on training and staff availability. However, local residents still need to get to work, school, and travel for leisure.
I have written to Govia Thameslink today to raise this with them again, and I have also been in contact with Cllr Becky Rush, Cllr Lesley Steeds and Cllr Taylor O'Driscoll, who have worked tirelessly on this over the past few months. Together we are continuing to push for better services for East Surrey.
If you have concerns about particular services, please do get in touch with me at [email protected] so I can feed this in.
