I had the pleasure of catching up with the Chief Executive of Gatwick Airport, Stewart Wingate, this week. As always, the conversation was very constructive and I’m going to be speaking with Ministers and other Surrey MPs in the coming days to see what more we can do to support aviation.
One of the issues raised was making green list travel easier and we also talked about the importance of getting international agreement on travel arrangements.
I also asked them to consider including the RH6 7 and RH6 8 postcodes in Horley in their Local Commuter Scheme, which provides access for two free visits per day to the South Terminal drop off zone, and this is something they have agreed to take a look at and consider.
I also raised concerns with the council about access for cyclists to the airport and I'm pleased to say consultations and workshops are currently taking place on this subject and I expect to hear more from them soon.
I'll continue to keep you all updated in the weeks ahead, but if you need my help in the meantime please do send me an email at [email protected].
And if you'd like to get in touch with the Gatwick Response Hub, which is now open and providing advice and skills support to all those affected by the industry’s job losses, you can email the team at [email protected].
