In light of the horrific kidnapping and murder of Sarah Everard, my thoughts are with her family. The Home Secretary has released a message:
"The stories you have shared since Sarah's terrible disappearance are so powerful. That's why today I am reopening the Home Office survey on tackling violence against women and girls. Please take a moment to complete it. The government is listening.”
Speaking personally, I actually used to live where Sarah did. I made the same choice to walk home in the evenings and felt the nagging fear of doing so.
Unfortunately, this is not a small handful of men doing these things. 80% of all women have been sexually harassed, including 97% of 18–24-year-old women. 1 in 4 women have suffered domestic abuse.
Please do complete the survey. Let’s do what we can to end to violence against women.
