Many of you have got in touch with me to share your horror over the Post Office Horizon scandal, one of the worst miscarriages of justice in British history.
Today the Prime Minister announced how we will put this right: to clear people's names, provide faster access to compensation, and, at long last, deliver justice for those who have waited far too long.
We're introducing emergency legislation to quash all convictions that were based on false evidence. This will clear people's names and pave the way for innocent individuals to receive at least £600,000 in compensation.
We will also bring forward an upfront compensation offer to the Group Litigation Order cohort of 555 postmasters who brought this injustice to national attention.
The current compensation system is clearly far too slow, so we will also urge the independent Horizon Compensation Advisory Board to speed up the roll-out of the compensation scheme.
