- I am delighted to report that we now have two new vaccinations centres in East Surrey, in addition to the Westway in Caterham: the Tandridge District Council Offices in Oxted and Centenary Hall in Smallfield.
- Staff and residents in local care homes are now being vaccinated, starting with those with over 50 residents. Now that we have the new Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, which is easier to transport, the service will be rolled out to all care homes over the next few weeks.
- We know that the next few weeks will be challenging, but progress is being made. Britain has vaccinated more people than the rest of Europe combined, with approximately 2,000,000 people receiving their first dose and 400,000 also receiving their second dose. This is testament to the brilliant work of healthcare workers, volunteers, and public health officials up and down the country.
- As for now, I would just urge everybody to keep to the restrictions. Our case rates across East Surrey are still much higher than the national average and, while I know being back in lockdown is tough, it's vital that we get these numbers down to avoid overwhelming the NHS and losing many more lives.
- It's also important not to contact the NHS about vaccination queries, as they are working flat out at the moment to deliver as many vaccines as possible as quickly as possible. When it is your turn to be vaccinated, they will contact you.
