I am delighted that a new Youth Hub for East Surrey and a Gatwick Response Hub will be opening soon. This means there will be dedicated teams to help our young people and aviation workers, who are among the hardest hit by the pandemic, access training and skills opportunities and find jobs.
The Reigate and Banstead Youth Hub is due to open on 1 March. It will be virtual at first, but when lockdown eases it will be located at the Harlequin in Redhill for three days a week, at Quadrant House in Caterham for one day a week, and at the Town Hall in Oxted for one day a week.
The Gatwick Response Hub will be located within the airport to provide advice and transferrable skills support to all those affected by the industry’s job losses.
My thanks to all those involved in making today’s news possible. It’s been a pleasure to support this work from the East of Surrey Local Economy Taskforce, with leaders from Tandridge Council, Love Reigate and Banstead, Surrey County Council, the Federation of Small Businesses and the Local Economic Partnership.
A special thanks to the Minister for Employment, Mims Davies MP, who attended one of our meetings in the Autumn to listen to our concerns and follow through on these proposals and to the hardworking team at the Department for Work and Pensions who regularly update us.
The work of the Local Economic Taskforce goes on and I will continue to post updates here on our progress. As ever, if you need my assistance or have any questions, please contact me at [email protected].
