Over 850,000 people across Surrey Heartlands have been able to get vaccinated. And across the country an astonishing 55 million jabs have been delivered.
Visiting one of our local vaccination centres at the Centenary Hall in Smallfield recently, I met with Dr Vijay Elango and Katherine Saunders, Chief Executive of the Alliance for Better Care, as well as some of the wider team and volunteers behind this extraordinary success.
They had delivered more than 17,000 doses in total. The entire operation was so impressive, and I know everyone across East Surrey will join me in thanking them for their heroic efforts over the past few months.
I was very touched that the local centre was fundraising for Unicef’s Covid Vaccine Fund, which is helping to deliver two billion vaccines for health workers and the most high-risk people on our planet.
Britain is one of the largest funders of Covax, the Global Vaccine Alliance, helping to deliver vaccines to countries that would otherwise struggle. You can donate to Unicef’s programme by scanning the QR code below.
