I really enjoyed my visit to Godstone Fire Station last week.
I had the chance to speak with the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service crews, I had a tour of the station, and I was also able to look at the tree I helped to plant last year during my Green-tember campaign.
Lots of you will know that our local crew not only respond to 999 calls - including fires, road traffic collisions, water rescues and flooding - they do so much more for our local community behind the scenes too.
They educate people and businesses about how to prevent emergencies happening in the first place - and what to do if they do happen. Their work in the community includes visits for vulnerable people, visits to schools, open days and working with partners to help reduce crime and suffering.
I know everyone across East Surrey is enormously grateful for their tireless work and dedication. We're so lucky to have them, and I look forward to visiting them again soon.
