I'm proud to support the Government's plans to outlaw 'conversion therapy', which is a practice that seeks to change people’s sexuality or gender identity.
Not only does the evidence show this does not work, but it also leads LGBT+ people to feel ashamed of something they should feel no shame about. And it’s wrong that organisations are marketing and profiting from the suggestion that people need to change or suppress who they are or who they love.
The Government has committed to bring this legislation before the House by spring 2022, and over the next six weeks Ministers want to hear from people across the country - particularly those with experience of so-called conversion therapy - with their views on how we can improve and build on these proposals.
