Last month I held a HGVs roundtable with some of our HGV operator firms and local parish councils. It was a good first step to build on a positive dialogue between our residents and HGV firms.
I hope by working together we can find the right balance so that our businesses can thrive and our residents can have the safety and high quality roads they deserve. We discussed ways forward and are working on this now. I will report back soon.
On the national side, I'm really pleased the Government has agreed to carry out a review of the Traffic Commissioner's powers over HGVs and I will be feeding in the suggestions we discussed at the roundtable to the Minister.
