The Prime Minister has just announced that we have met the four tests needed to move to Step Four on 19 July. Headline measures:
- The one metre rule will be removed, which means an end to social distancing
- Face masks will no longer be legally required
- The work from home order will come to an end
- The rule of six inside private homes will be removed
- The rule of 30 in outdoor settings will be removed
- Fully vaccinated passengers returning from amber list countries will no longer have to quarantine
- Limits on attendance at weddings/funerals will be lifted
- Limits on named care home visitors will be lifted
- Limits on venue capacity will be lifted
- Mandatory table service in pubs/bars will come to an end
- School bubbles will come to an end
This is a big moment for us all - it’s been a long year and a half. But we know that the virus is still out there. It will now be on all of us to exercise personal responsibility and act with caution.
