I am so pleased to share that over 100,000 homes and businesses across Surrey are set to benefit from a broadband upgrade through the Government's £5 billion Project Gigabit fund, which will see us gain access to the fastest broadband speeds on the market.
60 per cent of all households across the country will have access to gigabit speeds by the end of the year - the fastest rollout in Europe - and the Government is also on track to hit its target of gigabit-coverage of at least 85 per cent by 2025.
I understand from my own experience of working from home over the past year just how frustrating it is to suffer from a poor internet connection, and how this has impacted people across East Surrey, so I do hope today's announcement will be welcome news to local residents and businesses alike.
