On 12th June, Crispin Blunt, MP for Reigate, and I announced the launch of the East of Surrey Coronavirus Business Recovery Task Force to support our regional economic recovery, helping local businesses bounce back from Covid-19, bringing together the Leaders and Economic Recovery Teams of Tandridge District Council and Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, Coast2Capital LEP, and MPs Crispin Blunt and myself to coordinate the local economic response. The Taskforce is working to help local businesses back on their feet and to get East Surrey’s economy on the road to recovery:

One of the reasons I started the taskforce with Crispin was to ensure the East of Surrey gets its fair share of national and regional funding for business recovery.
I am delighted therefore to announce that, following pressure from the Taskforce, Tandridge and Reigate and Banstead have been provisionally awarded a total of £ 1.7m of projects from the Government through the Local Economic Partnership Coast2Capital. This sum forms part of the Government’s national emergency economic recovery package.
This represents around 10% of the total funds available on this round for the entire Coast2Capital area and is a good result for East Surrey
The funds have been allocated to the following two projects:
A22 Cycle Lane – Tandridge - £500k
Marketfield Way Development, Redhill – Reigate and Banstead - £1.2million
The next step will be for all projects to go through final due-diligence and scrutiny before the funding is formally approved.
We will continue to work as a group to ensure that projects across the East of Surrey are ready to apply for funding as new opportunities arise.
