Earlier today I attended the memorial for my predecessor Peter Ainsworth, who I know touched so many people’s lives locally and was held in the highest regard across East Surrey.
This morning in the House I had the opportunity to pay tribute to his longstanding environmental work, including as Shadow Environment Secretary, Chair of the Environmental Audit Committee, and board member of the Environment Agency.
I was also pleased to hear the Minister's response to my question about a new Wild Belt designation, which would protect and enhance biodiversity across the country.
And I was delighted by her support for our Surrey-wide Climate Change Summit, which takes place virtually at 6pm tonight. We will be joined by Michael Gove, the Surrey Wildlife Trust, and many others. For more details and to get your free ticket, please click here.
