Due to the success of our national booster campaign and after a thorough review of the data, the Government has decided to lift Plan B Covid rules. This means:
- From today, people are no longer being asked to work from home and should discuss returning to the office with their employers.
- From tomorrow, children will no longer have to wear face masks in classrooms.
- From Thursday 27, the Government will no longer mandate the wearing of face masks anywhere, although people will still be advised to wear coverings in enclosed or crowded spaces and when meeting strangers.
- From Thursday 27, Covid passports for entering nightclubs and large events will no longer be mandatory, although organisations will still be able to choose to use the NHS Covid pass if they wish.
- In the coming days, the Health Secretary will set out plans to further ease restrictions on visits to care homes.
- The Government will soon be able to remove the legal requirement to self-isolate altogether - just as we don’t place legal obligations on people to isolate if they have flu - and replace it with advice and guidance.
