This morning, the Queen opened a new session of Parliament and outlined the Government’s agenda for the year ahead. Here are some of the headline measures I've picked out:
The Environment Bill, a landmark piece of legislation that will protect and enhance nature and transform our landscape in the years to come
Three bills on animal welfare, which will ban the export of live animals for fattening and slaughter, and bring in mandatory microchipping for cats
The Victims Bill, which will create new rights for the victims of crime, including new standards on support offered to victims of sexual and domestic abuse
The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, which will introduce tougher sentences for serious crimes like murder and rape
A ban on conversion therapy to protect LGBT people from coercive and sometimes very traumatic attempts to change their sexuality
The Skills and Post-16 Education Bill, which will introduce a new flexible loan system designed to promote wider participation in further education and ensure that everyone, no matter where they live or their background, can gain the skills they need to progress in work at any stage of their lives
The Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Bill, which will place new legal duties on students' unions and universities to ensure freedom of speech is upheld on campus
A Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill, which will extend 5G mobile coverage and introduce new safety standards for digital devices
The Online Safety Bill, which will place a duty on tech giants to tackle harmful and illegal content online
A Sovereign Borders Bill, which will introduce reforms to our asylum system and discourage migrants from crossing the Channel
The Armed Forces Bill, which will outline government support for veterans, putting the Armed Forces Covenant into law and dealing with legacy issues from the Troubles, including restrictions on future prosecutions
