Last month, I had the opportunity to meet with Dr. David Hill and Dr. Bahar Maybrey from Oxted Health Centre to discuss the implications of the recent increase in employer national insurance contributions.

Growing up in an NHS household, I used to spend some of my summer holidays filing papers in my mum’s surgery. I saw how much people rely on their family doctors. This is the approach to care that I want to see for the communities I represent.
Unfortunately, the Oxted Health Centre will have no choice but to reduce services to accommodate the financial pressures of the National Insurance increase. I fully understand the vital role this health centre plays for the residents of Oxted, and I will continue to urge the Government to prioritise patients and protect local services.
