Reigate School of Art at East Surrey College is home to the only Heraldic Art, Calligraphy & Illumination course in the country. This beautiful heritage craft has been passed down from generation to generation, and I am very proud that ESC is keeping the tradition alive.
It was wonderful to join students, led by Gerald Mynott, who toiled away for weeks to create the only illuminated Coronation scroll in England - and doesn't it look beautiful?
Previous students on the course have designed the King's 'ClIIR' cypher and the official invitation to the coronation, so it was very fitting that students in Surrey were commissioned to create this gift to celebrate His Majesty The King's reign. A huge well done to Andrew, Janet, Patricia, Jennifer and Michela.
