Many of us know Sir Richard Stilgoe from his fantastic collaborations with Andrew Lloyd Webber, but for 25 years he has been helping to run the equally fantastic Orpheus Centre in Godstone to boost the confidence, skills, and self-esteem of young people with disabilities.
When I visited the centre I saw first-hand how much it means to its students, who often need a bit of extra support with their learning. Sir Richard mentioned that when the students perform in shows, they will be beaming with joy and walk off stage feeling ten inches taller - what a wonderful way to leave your mark on the world.
The Orpheus Centre’s work is all about helping young people with disabilities grow into capable, independent and resilient adults and I couldn't be more proud to have such a stellar organisation in our community.
