Delighted that Caterham has been chosen as one of two locations across the country to trial new approaches to tackling the risks of flooding.
Over the past year, I've heard from people facing raw sewage overspill inside of their homes because the sewers are at capacity, and I've been working closely with the Caterham Flood Action Group, who have consistently raised concerns that inadequate maintenance and overdevelopment have put existing homes at risk of flooding.
We all know that climate change will only make these problems worse, so I'm very pleased that Ministers have listened to local concerns and that this trial will give us a real opportunity to put people at the centre of future planning, recognising the importance of local decisions being made together with communities.
