Parent-baby mornings, community fridges and bereavement counselling are wonderful ways for residents to come together and support each other, but they need good quality spaces if they are to work well.
The ladies at St John's Church in Hurst Green recently gave me an update on their plans to renovate the church to make it more suitable as a community hub and to co-locate more services for residents in the village.
I'm going to work with them to explore grants to fund their plans, and put them in touch with community leaders elsewhere in East Surrey who have done a really good job of turning their facilities into hubs of the community.
